Hmm, wonder if his luggage set was ok; even the little hidden door compartment coke smuggling pieces?

I think the roof scoop on the Gemballa's look awesome-- really. It's the best sounding car ever made but it does look a little too similar to to a 911 and the hood scoop updates it, makes it look more hyped up, more supercar...as it deserves. I guess we all have our opinions. I have Fcars, NFGT and I dont like mods on them, but this mod, on the CGT, looks good. Yeah it destroys the classic look of it, If I bought a CGT, I would not get an investment grade. low mile garage queen, I'd buy a higher mileage one, and put a Gemballa package on it and drive it regularly.

My neighbor has a garage queen CGT with an open exhaust and the sound is unbelievable-- incredible sound. It's a great car however you have it.

Shame he wrecked it.

I am also amazed the car was still able to go after the way he sent that white van flying. He really smoked it hard and yet the car was still drivable. Just goes to show how well the CGT is built and engineered. Also amazed the idiot driver was able to get out like nothing happened. Shame about CGT, glad no one else was hurt.

How did the driver side rear bumper and qtr get damaged? When he drove away from the initial crash, it didn't look like there was any damage at that point to the driver side rear. Did he have another crash before getting stopped by the police?

Sorry just read the Road and Track article. Apparently he smashed into several other cars after that.

I thought it was odd that he was sliding sideways going straight before hitting that white van. After seeing the left side of his car with his rear wheel pointing out, it makes sense. Earlier, he probably over steered and lost the rear when making a right turn, and hit a car that caused the damage on the left rear. Considering the speed he was able to get to before hitting the white van, his damaged left rear suspension probably broke at speed, causing the wheel to toe out, and then forcing the slide into that white van. That slide could have continued up into the sidewalk if not for parked cars protecting pedestrians. When pressing charges, judges should consider what could have happened rather than what did happen.

The car does not appear to be traveling at that high of a speed from the security cam. It will be calculated with the time it took to cross the intersection on that tape. Temp that morning at 7:30AM was around 40-45F so tires was probably cold. Manhattan is not known for smooth roads so perhaps it was a combination of rock hard tires and suspension bottoming out that caused the car to lose control.

What he did after was inexcusable. Just sitting tight after the first crash would not have created this sh!tstorm.

^ agree
CGT is terrible if pavement is not smooth. not enough dampening on shocks.

HIT AND RUN is the worst thing one can do.... douche

This car must be bought and return to its former glory as a great CGT!

I wonder how hard it is to get parts for it? Small production run 15+ years ago. To put in perspective I've been waiting 5 months for a 2018 488 driver inside door panel.

I assume it's incredibly hard but its an area I know nothing about. If you could get them, I'd be an interested buyer, I love the Gemballa more than the original and would want a driver car and dont care about history.
