Talking SECOND N. America Carrera GT DELIVERY!!

Alrighty guys, I know I'm normally on the 944 section, but what I saw today deserves this!

I went to McKenna Porsche, to order the hood latch for my '83 944, and what do I spy on the showroom floor being primped and polished!?

Yes, folks, the SECOND Carrera GT in N. America, in BLACK! This one belongs to Mr. McKenna himself.

By permission, here's the link to their site, with 50 pics of it:

www.mckennamotors.net

Yeah, never thought I'd want a newer Porsche, but this one stole my heart! Though the sticker is over $400K (They were offered today $160K over sticker), I WANT!

The General Sales Manager, David Mattice told me that Porsche plans on putting out 1500 of these beauties, but only 2 a year at this point, slated for the States.

I do hope you enjoy the pics of this one, I looooove it! Oh, if you do give them a call, please tell them Julie from Rennlist sent you - they've been very good to me, in my 944 restoration, and have treated me better than any other Porsche dealership.

Only two a year... that does not sound right. I would hazard a guess that it would be closer to two a month initialy... otherwise the US has gotten all its going to get for the 04 year.

More like 19 to 22 per month (on average over 3 years) to the USA.

The American allocation is thought to be 700 to 800 units.

The dealer either was misunderstood, he mis-spoke, or he's a flaming liar. (Was that too harsh?)

from the pics it looks as though it comes with the GT3 seats.
i thought US cars could not have these seats as factory items?

The CGT is being built as a world car and will be coming with the bucket seats. Though they look similar to GT3 seats, they are slightly different.

You're most welcome, John!

I'd love to take pics of me in the car tomorrow when I pick up parts, but I'm not sure I can talk them into that, lol - it's still without a scratch!

John,

I'm hoping to get a VA/MD/DC gathering in the works soon for May or June. Right now I'm just posting to people I see in the area, but will soon have threads in all the forums spreading the word. If you are at all interested give me a PM or just post on here.

Take care,
Kevin

ps... your 993TT is a heart-stopper! That's my favorite of all the 911/930s ever, and yours is absolutely gorgeous!!

John, you are EVIL! I went and looked at your delicious 993TT, and of course, in my favorite color...and I found you used to have a 951! Totally cool!

Ah, I do love the 993 TT, just wasn't getting my hopes up too high, but things are picking up for me, so I'm dreaming of what I want again. Last time, I nearly bought a Diablo...now I've got my sights on the Carrera GT, but I'd willingly be happy with the 993TT.

But I am happy with my current Porsche...just would like to have a few specimens of a choice selections!

Kevin, thanks for the compliments. You name the time and place and I will certainly be there! I jump at any excuse to get together with other p-cars.

Julie, looks we share a love of black/black p-cars, to me nothing is more impressive. I fondly recall my former 944's all the time, particularly when the TT is tramlining all over these awful roads in the DC area. The 944s were incredibly well balanced and had a great on-center steering feel. Thanks again for posting the CGT pics.

FYI, on Feb 20th, 6-9pm, McKenna is hosting a party celebrating the arrival of their Carrera GT. This car is supposed to be chassis #07, so I was told.

Anyhow, many PCA Orange Coast Region members are planning to attend. Should be lots of fun...

The first 100 people there get to drive it...

That sucks! I hate it when dealers try to sell an untitled car for a premium.
