Internet sharing has taken things to a whole new level - photos videos track days auctions C&C don't think this ever goes away.

Many car guys / collectors used to hide behind screen names - today those same guys show their collections for the world to see.

I give credit to the factories but it's the people with knowledge skills passion that sustains the community - thank the internet for that tether.

I don't know if it's correct to call someone a "mechanic" when they r one of the top names in the country to work on a car that looks like and built like a space ship? We'll stick with Cgt guru and pretty damn fast in a SY 996 turbo.
Thanks Jeremy! It was great to meet you, and what an amazing day. Takes quite the driver to do what you were doing in that GT. Looking forward to the next

If you haven't had major service done on your car, you will find out soon enough. If your car had major service before you bought it, you might be in it for a surprise when it's time for you to do major service on it. I have seen quite a few cars that was worked on by incompetent/inexperienced technicians and a lot of nuts and bolts are in the wrong place or missing. I have also seen a lot of CGTs where the shifter cable insulation getting burned off and needed a new linkage. If you haven't had coils done, I guarantee yours will need replacement.

50K for parts and major service is not hard to fathom on the CGT. New gas tank? New clutch? New gearbox? Any one of these components will cost you $$$.

Silver is the regal color - love my black silver.

7800 miles recently left dealer - never needed anything outside normal maint not sure how these cars were serviced or driven to require a 50K+ service.

Bought a second clutch just in case and my 28.5 reading has not budged in 3000 miles - in a year or two it will go visit Jimmy

Good news about the coils, if you need them and replace them the car feels a million times better!

Not sour, just disappointed that I am not going to be able to rely upon 10-5-2 year old paint meter readings to evaluate whether a car has paint work ... today. I mean, like, why bother getting a PPI at all when you can rely upon a perfectly good one from three owners ago?

If a car was good 8 years ago it might not be good today - that's a much bigger error state. And I'll take the odds that most were good 8 years ago.

Did you get my PM? .. strange I never heard back from you. I sent you - privately because it was personal info on you and your car - the proof that you were wrong in your assertions about us in your very public post, but I guess even in private you don't want to admit that what you posted about us wasn't true ...

Default Carrera GT baseline paint meter chart

Because others don't seem to want to share their toys ... here is a link to a baseline, delivery miles, 2005 CGT. Separate readings were taken by two applicators using (my) Positector 200B3-E and Positector coupling fluid (not off the shelf ultrasound gel). The readings were averaged to result in the posted numbers (in uM).

Go to this page to download a PDF of the chart.
