Default Wilder's Widebody Macan Turbo PP Build Journal

My 17 Macan Turbo PP is exceptional. I love the car and have no plans to get rid of it. But it was starting to look a bit dated. I absolutely love the look of the Turbo GT and it inspired me to do a little modding. Here is a teaser pic. More to come this weekend.

You have my attention with the fender flaring.

I love the GT style wheels and definitely had to have them on my next Macan.

They are the fender flairs that come with the Techart widebody kit. I only used the fender flairs as I don't like the rest of the kit.

Both great looking Macans. Black always ages so well. Fave wheel for Macan too. Is your GTS Chalk or white? I know the GTS is newer and that throttle response has been fixed, but otherwise, what do you think of the 3.6 vs the 2.9?

Thank you! It's just a design element of the Techart widebody fender flairs.

Yes, chalk. As I mentioned earlier, the newer version is a worthy successor with all the little details updated or improved. Definitely less turbo lag.

Double sided tape combined with some 3M liquid adhesive that catalyses and strengthens the double sided tape. So far so good.

Did you go with OEM wheels or are those aftermarket?

Thank you. The arches and wheels transformed the car.

Aftermarket (lighter, forged aluminum) with custom offsets and painted locally for me to ensure I got the color right. Satin Neodyme is not an easy color. You have to use Glasurit and the formula is not exactly common knowledge. Had to send them back twice before they got it right. Very happy with the end result.

So I retitled this thread and will be using it as my journal to document the build of my car. I don't plan to do much more but I find those are usually famous last words in the never ending slippery slope.

That said, a bit about the journey so far: I bought the car in November 2021. I live in a town full of potholes, speed bumps, irregular roads, dirt roads, cobble stone, and flash floods, so a pick up or SUV are a must. My first idea was to get a Jeep. As much as I like them, I very much dislike American build quality and lack of reliability. At around this time, the new Ford Bronco was coming out and my attention quickly shifted in that direction. However, I quickly arrived at the same conclusion and lost interest fairly quickly. Enter the Macan. My first thought was that this might be my only car and so I narrowed my search to GTS and Turbos. I searched for about six months and eventually got a call from a Porsche dealer who had taken this PP on trade. I bought it on the spot. The car had 25k mi and was a one owner car in perfect condition. It was a $125k build that was extremely well optioned and had a REMUS exhaust. The below pictures are the dealer pictures and point to how far the car has come.

Mods to date:
  • Pwerflex transmission mount insert
  • Pedal Commander
  • Steel lines, Hawk pads, and ATE Super Blue racing fluid
  • Cargraphic lower module
  • Xpel XR Plus throughout including windshield and sunroof for heat rejection
  • Flat 6 high flow intake
  • 21" GT Design replica wheels (forged aluminum, ~5lbs lighter per wheel)
  • Techart replica wheel arch extensions + spacers
  • 2019 aftermarket tailgate and tail lights
  • Painted mirrors and black wrap/PPF on roof, front facia and the bottom of the entire car
