What a hottie!!
So... my family has convinced me that my on 02 C4 Cab is no longer practical and now I have fallen head over fn heals with a 2015 black on black Macan S. I took the hour drive today to see it and by the time I blinked once I knew I was sold. Something is holding me back though. The engine sounds much different than my 996. It sounds like all the lifters are ticking. Didn't notice it until I opened the hood while it was running. I had to confirm it was gasoline because it sounded like a diesel. I've looked a bunch for videos of what the engine sounds like when it's running but haven't found anything. People show off the exhaust but not just the engine sound. I know people will suggest I go drive a few more to compare sounds but the availability of them around me is very slim. Is there someone with a few minutes of time that can record a video of a cold startup with focus on the motor and rev it a few times? Supposed to pick this hottie up on Saturday morning. Thanks in advance!!

That's the direct injection, makes it sound like a diesel.

Have a recording of what it sounds like?
Cutting the check and handing over the 911 tomorrow around lunch time. Hurts a bit on the inside. I will sleep better tonight if I hear that other macan engines sound the same way.

Yep.. Finally found a video and that's the sound at 4:50 in the video:
I feel better now. Still haven't got to go get it yet. They are fixing something and it's not ready.

Yup. Normal. DFI chain-driven engines all sound like a box of rocks. Except for flat-6s and 4s.

Tell us you’re keeping the 996?!
The Macan is great, but it certainly can’t replace the feeling of driving a proper Porsche sports car and the 996 is at the bottom of the depreciation curve. Keep the toy
