I just can't get over lack of rear seat room. I was browsing a dealer lot yesterday and it looks like it would uncomfortable for an adult and borderline for pre-teen children. Granted my point of reference is an Audi A8 (short wheelbase) but the car just looks small. Anyone else come from a large sedan and regret it? Otherwise I love everything about it!

It depends on how you adjust the front seats. Reasonable size adults won't have a problem around town. I agreed they may not be comfortable on long trips.

You can always step up to the Cayenne. Our Cayenne is our family vacation and 4 adults car. We're looking at the Macan as a DD replacement for my wife's 997 now that the kids are older and I think it would be perfect for that.

Is it that you no longer want a sedan? If you still want a sedan you really should try out the latest Panamera. Performance, comfort (even in the back seat), and it has all the things that make it a Porsche.

As for the Macan, did you actually sit in the back seat? The fronts can go way back, probably for someone 6'5" which certainly will encroach on back seat room. I'm 6'1" and adults are fine behind me. As others have said, a Cayenne feels much (much) roomier but it also feels more like driving a Yukon than a 911. Another alternative is a BMW X5, it doesn't handle like either Porsche but it is stupid fast in twin Turbo V8 form. Ours is the XDrive50i, no idea why they call it that, but it will slam you back in the seats if you floor it at 70 MPH. We also tried the X5M, but I didn’t think it was that much faster than ours, but it was way more expensive.

Actually it is a 4.4 litre and what car built in the last 20 years or so isn't fuel injected? I think all of them are AWD anyway. Just lots of letters on the fender that I actually went to the garage to make sure I had it right. Regardless, it is a great vehicle that I'd recommend to anyone.

It is definitely not voluminous back there. I'm just under 6' tall with a long torso, and my head brushes the headliner. The low roof was one of the reasons I initially dismissed the Macan and concentrated on the Cayenne. However, once I drove the Macan, I justified the difference in space by realizing how infrequently I haul around clients who will use the back seat.

Drive one; it's that good.

Agreed. Unless you are tall, and regularly carry around tall adults in the back, then take it for a spin and treat yo'self. I had a loaner Cayenne which was a nice ride too, with more space, but the Macan is a lot more fun to drive. If space is your priority over fun, then the Cayenne is the way to go (or a minivan).

One of the reason I got the Cayenne is because you can slide rear seat back giving more room. However, Macan is a lighter and lower car which is reflected in its handling.

I'm a fan of having different vehicles for different purposes, so I would get both, or for the same money, a used Cayenne and a used 911.

I once tried to trade an '09 Cayman S, even, for a used Cayenne and a used BMW 735L. Perhaps the dealer was looking out for me when he refused. A used Macan and 735 ... that would make more sense. Still not enough for me, but your passengers would get footrests, etc. in the BMW.

I just went through the same last week. I went to get a Macan for my wife and left with a Cayenne. The outgoing 2018 Model is really a great value right now. I was able to negotiate the lease to a lower price than I could get on the Macan and it was a no brainer. You do lose some of the newer technology and weight saving but in the end I felt it was a good trade off.

I can see that happening. If we didn't already have an X5 I would've ended up with a Cayenne. The X5 removed the "5 passenger, large cargo"requirements and allowed for "smaller and sportier".

Macan is slightly too small, but Cayenne is too large as a whole.
