996 GT3 Cup. Looks like a casting flaw. How the &^%^ does this get past quality control?
I'm concerned about it being a potential detonation spot although everything looks fine around it, and there is no mark on the piston that suggests FOD.

Do I need to fix this?

Yeah that looks like a casting issue. You can have it filled(welded) shouldn't be a big deal. if in any other spot it wouldn't worry but with it that close to the valve seat it could lead to a hot spot and a burned seat. Its an intake valve so not as bad as an exhaust, but while you have it apart....
