Autometrics. Good work, reasonable price.

Can't speak to aftermarket systems but although rare it is possible to overrev with paddles on the 991 Cup, which uses Megaline.

In doing a search to check average hours on a gear box, I thought I'd report that I've gone 96 hours on my original gear box (997.2). I'm having it rebuilt this month. I'll be very curious to hear of it's condition.

Indeed! And roughly $2,700.00 for that bearing alone. If you don't replace it, you almost have a guarantee your case will split upon failure.

You probably have the touch of an angel with your gearbox... MY2012 wide gears or not I have not heard of 997s lastings beyond 50-60H of competitive use... with a blipper I managed some 25H and even then the 2nd/3rd dogs were spent...

I think you mean a different gearbox. 997 Cup uses the same bearing as the GT3 street cars.

You are correct - I was speaking of the Hoerr (R/RSR) box.

Oh come on now. Post a photo of the $2700 4-point bearing. I don't think I have ever seen a bearing that expensive!!

^^^^This.....I always use the clutch on downshifts and have pushed the rebuilds to 55+ hours. The dogs, bearings and some gears did need to be replaced.

It indeed exists. In 2014 the 4-point bearing alone was $3099.00. Looks like the price has come down some. Photo credit: Bill Rader

Porsche likes to charge a kings ransom for their proprietary bearings because they know their vendors won't sell behind their back at a reasonable price. I would be willing to bet that SKF sells that bearing to Porsche for $300-400 ea and won't sell them to anyone else.
