Default New paint job

This off season I'm contemplating on respraying my '02 cup and restoring it to its formal glory when it won the inaugural 25 hr of Thunderhill back in '03.

The car is currently painted black and wrapped, so all of that will need to come off. For those that have gone down this path, did you use a regular body shop for the work? What would a typical respray cost? I'd ideally like to clean up the interior too. I'm budgeting $5-$7K for this, but not sure if that's realistic.

Just wrap it in the old livery.
Respray with strip done correctly is twice what you are thinking at a bare min...

Lots of folks on the forum have used him. His design and quality of print is outstanding. You can get it done within your budget.

Thanks guys. My budget didn't include strip and reassembly - just the actual paint job itself. Either way sounds like that's not realistic. My last wrap cost around that much so I should have figured that wasn't enough.

^ i delivered a fully stripped tub to paint shop. one did my 6gt3 one did my hippie
the INTERIOR alone was $5000, that's with discount. but as you have seen the cars, i have higher standards than most ppl. even a "regular" job, in and outside, would be 10k EASILY

spend the money on slicks.

Here in FL we have some very good reasonable shops. When we got out '05 it was wrapped and when removed we found 4 different colors of white and a primered unpainted hood. So whole car repainted outside was $2500 and it was to a VERY high standard. No issues, runs, etc.

Most shops see John coming and they go "hmm multiply for 3 or 4"????

I removed the original wrap on ViperBob's car (long before he bought it) and it was MUCH more difficult and time concuming than I expected. The type of wrap makes a huge difference on removal

If you proceed... you should spend the extra bucks to replace all the windows and window gaskets too.

Talk to a couple of different shops and their previous customers. Inspect the work if you can.
Just remember- if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!
