AIM Video set up for 991 CUP
The 991 is different from all of the earlier Cups in that it uses the Bosch MS 4 ECU and there is no easy way to connect to the AIM Camera. With assistance from Chris Brown and Joe Hullet, I have created a cable connects the AIM ECU bridge to the 991 Cup harness. It uses the C50 connector installed in the 991 Cup for connection to a Bosch C50 data logger. This port might be used by scruitineers or Porsche in the IMSA series, I am not sure.
For those of you that have an unused C50 port (37 pin Autosport female connector located on the passenger side where the rear seat cushion would be in a street car) this "kit" is plug and play. Everything is configured and ready to go. The camera powers up when the ignition is on and the camera starts recording at 20 mph (user can change critera in menu of camera). With this set-up you will get GPS Speed, RPM, Throttle, Laptimes, Lat and Long G meter and Brake pressure but from Long G not real bp.
The kit includes a SC HD 2.1 camera, 4 Gbit SD card, RAM roll bar mount, AIM ECU bridge with Autosport 37 pin connector and a GPS antenna. Price of everything is $1499 delivered in US.

I think the smarty cam HD is the way to go right and it is reasonably priced.
Are you able to lay the video into the cosworth data, like we do with motec?

Not able to deal with the Cosworth data. In fact we had Chris Brown add a Motec logger to the 991 Cup so we can overlay data with the other 10 or so Cups we take to the track. I'm sure Cosworth is great but it is so complicated to use for the occasional user.

Thats because you are the happiest I have ever seen you with that new cup car.
Heard you are working in LA, checked my phone, maybe I missed your call to take you to dinner..... Ha
You'd better be at road america next week with that thing....

For those who have upgraded their Cup car to a 991, and have an AIM ECU bridge that will not connect to a 991, I've made an adapter. This adapter plugs into the C50 connector in the 991 and connects to the 5 pin connector on your ECU bridge. The only thing you need to do is to change the configuration in the bridge to be ECU mfg = Porsche, ECU Model "991_GT3_CUP". The price for the harness is $150 shipped within US.
