Just under $1 million for a virgin 993 RSR with no race history.

Did the 'celebrity owned' help the sale?
Would race history fetch more money?
Are the 993 GT2 race cars worth more or less?

The 993 RSR is in fact a very rare car. It's got no history coz it was a failed product in earnest--some believe it was initially targeted for the Japan GT series, then the US IMSA and eventually LM GT2, none of which materialized in the end...
And there's only 30 of them!
Not saying all's fair at $1mm, but this is a car to have if one had the dough...

Wonder what kind of lap times he turned in this one?

I would say prolly on the slower side.
looks like he only ran it about a hour
"This limited-edition four-liter GT3 Cup was driven by Jerry Seinfeld at a private track day at Willows Spring Raceway in California and has approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of running time on it from new. The Porsche was recently serviced, is accompanied by its factory operations manual, and is ready for a new steward to enjoy its fantastic appearance and performance."

^ IMO this Brumos Cup is the most mispriced of the lot.
There are just waay too many 997 Cups of different stripes for any of them to merit collector value. Those with Le Mans or ALMS history may be a marginal case, but this?
But I don't have a million bucks lying around so I'm perhaps not qualified to opine...

The original 5 didn't fly off the shelves when they came up for sale. They are "factory" specials, so should increase in value over time, but also Brumos exiting the game (for the time being) may impact interest in the short term, just like Flying Lizards.
Brumos Cup seems like one to unload if in the market to add to (make room) in the collection.
Would be interesting to hear / read Jerry's thinking of why he picked what he did to sell off (and what he still has). The Brumos one makes sense for a space vs raise cash perspective, but the 993 RS ...

The 1960 Beetle at over $100k was unbelievable! Some very starry eyed bidders.
I was really taken by the IROC RSR, all the money at $2.1m but it had great presence and history
