Default Oil Change Interval

I'm wondering how often I should change my oil. Mine is a 993 RSR Cup which revs to 8 K during my 40 min race and 30 min qualifying. Would every say 4 hours be too often ? Advice appreciated.

I would change it every race weekend and check it for metal.

What oil do you run? Curious.

I change every 10-12 hours and do an oil analysis...using Millers 10w50 currently...could easily go 15 plus hours based on used oil tests.

I am using Millers now too.

I had been using Mobil 1 and changing every other race, but I am up in the air about how often yet with the Millers.

Thanks

Ed

I ve been using Castrol Edge Semi Syntetic but moved at start of the season to Millers.

The reason I asked the question is that I've found many answers but none based on real engineering science, just guess work. Yes the oil analysis is a good idea but it might be too late when that arrives. My gut feeling is 6-8 hrs but as I said this is not based on science.

What do professional Carrera Cup Teams use as a yardstick and do Porsche Motorsport give a guide for the 997 or 991 Cuo?

Take a sample after a few weekends and see how she looks. High quality racing oil is expensive but it can actually be very cost effective if you lower the wear rate and can maximize the oil change interval at the same time. There is nothing wrong with the "change it every weekend" method but it can get pretty expensive and time consuming. 993 RSR is a different engine, very highly stressed ? I'd do used oil tests and try to get a baseline.
