On the downshifting issue, I will concur with what others have said. My experience has been that many drivers coming over from a synchro box don't realize that they need to commit and make a nice solid shift. They are used to having to wait ever so slightly while the synchros do their work. On a sequential that pause will punish you as the claw bounces off the edge of the dogs, sometimes even kicking the shifter back at you and re-selecting the gear you just came out of.

Gear pot settings should be checked for proper voltage

Correct for smooth upshifts (ignition cutoff) but useless for the downshifts... But it's a good idea to keep an eye on it anyway.

Ian, Do you have any in-car video w/ the rough downshifts?

Personally, I doubt it's anything to do with the clutch as you don't need the clutch for smooth downshifts if you time the blips/shifts appropriately. If you're comfortable heal-toeing I'd ditch the auto-blipper too. I think they're garbage.

Also, I found it best to hit the hell out of the shifter. I drove Cup's like they were my b*tch, and that's how they worked best. One of the worst things you can do is get it between gears on the downshift by being too gentle, IMO.
