Default Help Pls Diag & Motec Software, UGH

Hello,

I am new to CUP cars and in the shop today our car's DIAG lights-up while at idle. We immediately shut it down and now the light will NOT go off. Stays lit all the time.

Being new to CUP cars I am also new to MOTEC. I did manage to get this snapshot from the software and I see a RED icon.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated while I humbly learn from others.

Do not care about this red dot in i2. It only show which lap is displayed for analysis.

The diag light is about the engine / tranny. You get it when your gear potentiometer (the one on the gearbox :-P) is not calibrated correctly. From memory, it should be 3,85V in 6th gear. Also, it may be a throttle butterfly calibration that is needed (if memory serves me right : undo the throttle cable, unscrew the idle screw, with the dash in practice mode, press both start/stop and next line button for 3 sec, attach the cable, screw the idle screw to 6,5 %)

Check in your cup manual the process to adjust both, check them, and then try to start the engine again.

Is your engine running normally, with no misfire ?

Thank you.

Yes engine is seemingly running very normal Low idle on start up but it has been abnormally cold where I am. Once warm up occurs all is fine - except Diag light.

Totally different things here. Motec is just the dash, your diag light is wired to the Bosch ECU.

Plug in the MODAS cable next to the passenger side B-pillar, fire up the Bosch software and it'll give you a readout of what's causing your diag light.

+1

fault codes can only be read by MODAS

Make sure you have right year software too

can be frustrating. I had the same when I changed fuel pumps and it took weeks to straighten out

The simple trick is to disconnect positive battery connection overnight. Reinstall in the am. Did you have any sensors unplugged and turn ignition on ? This can cause it as well. Don't take any drastic measures until you unhook battery it's the easy way to clear a code. If it's still on hook up the Modas ... If you have one .

Todd

You will need to find/borrow a Modas MSA II box, that allows the computer to talk to Bosch ECU. I can supply the software and the 09 config file from Porsche if you can find the MSA box.

Todd,

I have a Modas cable and box that I will sell for $1,600 + shipping and PayPal fee. That is approx 70% of new. PM if interested.

You can use to set gearbox potentiometer IMHO more accurate than doing so by MOTEC, set pit lane speed limiter, check codes, clear codes to name a few uses.

Thanks.

like 1200, 1300 new from bosch dealer, same exact cable, and maybe 800 every once and a while perfect used.

Good to know. Wish I would have known that when I bought this one. Guess I will have to lower my price. Thanks. Steve
