Default Paddle shift

New cup owner wondering about kmp unit. Just how delicate are these boxes on the down shift. ? I run a sequential now in my Atlantic but we never use clutch up or down and don't need a blip. Maybe newer guys could share experience as to the learning curve on the downshifting ..tempted to run the kmp but at 14k installed I figured I would ask those in the know.

Ed,
We have installed these in several cars already.
There is no need to use a clutch for up or down shifts when using the KMP unit.
If you would like a price let me know and I can provide this to you if you dont have someone you are working with, but this will require the assistance of a shop for install due to the complexity of the wiring and lines run for the compressor.
We have been using them in our Pirelli cup cars for some time with little to no issues, but there is a period of time that is going to be needed to iron out the system and truly test it for your driving style.

Hope this helps.

My car is at wright motorsports , I just wonder if I should learn how to drive as is and go from there. Seems like a nice way to keep the box working well.

The main thing is your blip on downshift. If done well, your box will be fine. Better said than done... Ho, and do clutch when upshifting without full throttle...

Going from a manual to the cup seq box, the first thing I have had installed was a Manthey auto blipper. PMNA has one too. Not the perfect thing, because they do not really rev-match but apply a % of throttle when you push the lever, but it was a prevention measure for me...

Now going KMP and can't wait for the test day planned in 2 weeks !

For those that have kmp , have you kept shift lever in place or done what I am told is the best and removed it and had actuator installed on box.? I see a lot of video where the actuator is moving shift lever mechanism and I am told this is less desirable way to go. But then what about reverse ??

both 997.1 cup cars we use have schift lever in place . no problems and easy to put the car in first gear and reverse this way .

Same here. Can't see why one would remove the lever with the KMP kit. The Holinger one seems to be another story.
