Default 997.1 Clutch Failure?

Ran a back to back race this weekend in moderate temperatures. Did have some overheating issues as i worked to get around a car with more horsepower in the 2nd race and found myself stuck behind him for 49 minutes until i passed him on the last lap . At the end of the race down shifts started grinding and when i got back to the paddock i could not get the car out of 1st gear unless i shut off the car. Any ideas what might cause this? Did i overheat the clutch or ?

I would bleed the clutch hydraulic system at the slave first. before condeming the clutch.

Check your clutch pressure channel in Motec and make sure you weren't dragging the clutch. I've seen a lot of guys do it and not even realize their foot is resting on the pedal.

My newest 911 is a 993 but have had this problem in both the 993 and a 951. Grinding on downshift when hot says the clutch is not completely released. Suspect the slave or clutch master cyl is failing and result is a dragging clutch. Try bleeding first before replacing parts. A worn out clutch will likely slip instead of drag.

I agree with both of these before you spend the $ to drop the trans an inspect the clutch.

Also is your shop or you adjusting the clutch travel? If not you can burn a clutch really fast in these cups.
