I have an 07 cup with a rebuild in 09. Should I worry about this?

Should just be cars with the Twin Flap intake and it's the nut securing the resonance flap from what I understand. Another way to say it is the cars with the bigass pigeon swallowing sized throttle body...07 world challenge/ 08 cups on, it looks like. Not sure which street gt3's had it...

What's the story about a kingdom that was doomed because of a missing horseshoe nail or something?

Yes, the issue is with the twin flap engines. Each flap is secured with two hardened 3.5mm machine screws, and it's these screws that are coming out and causing all the carnage. They should be examined periodically. Tightening, then applying a drop of green wicking Loctite (specifically for use with an assembled fastener) is in order. Unfortunately, the intake has to be removed and disassembled to do this. To add insult to injury, as these screws loosen, the flaps won't open or close properly, so the torque curve suffers.

The letter from Porsche is interesting! What's the date on this letter? Does anyone know what Porsche's fix to the shaft/flap/fastener is?

This sounds like the same issue behind the recall for '10-'11 RS's. Work Campaign 51.

"Porsche has determined that an intake air distributor may have been installed on your vehicle during production with a guiding shaft for the resonance flap that does not meet Porsche specifications. As a result the shaft may break and broken pieces may get into the intake duct or, ultimately, into the combustion chambers.

To prevent any damage from occurring, the intake air distributors on your vehicle need to be replaced."

Can anyone confirm?

I received my recall notice I'm the mail on Friday, campaign WC 51. I've scheduled my appointment for next week. I'll report back with as much info as I can.

Soooo.... How do owners of dual flap Cup engines get a new intake air distributor at no cost? Seems as though there's a pretty good acknowledgement of the issue by Porsche with Campaign WC 51, and there's plenty of evidence of similar/same problem with Cup engines.

Does anyone have any experience with pursuing this sort of thing?

good question!

I'm not going to ask for the tens of thousands of dollars damage the problem caused, but give me something to put in my new engine so it does not happen again. please.
