AIM Solo DL and 2002+ Cup ECU
Hi
Does there exist a cable that one can use to connect the Solo DL to a Cup ECU? I presume it should be done on the connector on the right-hand side of the car near the door? I would like to log some extra data but without doing permanent modifications to the car (especially since I want to log several cars which are not mine). Is this possible?

Yes, there is a way to have a cable made to connect the Bosch MS3 and MS4 to the Solo DL. You cannot use an ECU bridge to do it. I would use the unterminated ECU cable supplied for the Solo DL and have it terminated with the Motorsport connector on the relevant pins.
Not sure there exists a pre-made cable, but would inquire with your local AiM distributor.

I make a cable to do what you want to do. It connects to the 5 pin Autosport connector stubbed out near the Bosch ECU. It will not work if that connector is being used for some other device. I can e-mail instructions if you want to make one yourself.

It is. You can buy an Autosport connector and connect to the end of the SOLO DL CAN cable. If you need the instructions on wiring the pin, e-mail me at jandsaustin1 at verizon.net and I'll send you the AIM Pinout for the plug. It is really easy

The pinout diagram is on the aim website, but thanks nonetheless.
Something else: do you happen to know if the steering angle sensor kit they sell fits on a 996 Cup? I don't find any info whatsoever on those parts, except the specs of the potentiometer.

I have used a linear potentiometer and a string pot. The string is easier to install. I mount them so they attach to the tie rod. No "kit" that I am aware of.

The steering angle kit is a rotary pot with a L-bracket, toothed belt and pulleys. I use them all the time on the sports racing cars and prototypes.
I would think the string pot or a linear pot would be an easier install on a Cup, but I don't know. Pic below:

The question is if this kit fits on a 996 Cup without issues? I guess the pulley on the steering column needs to be of the correct diameter for it to work.

Here is the data sheet: http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...ot_eng_101.pdf
My understanding (I haven't checked it yet) is that the shaft diameter that the pulley fits is 22mm (7/8").
