Default 997 GT3 RS X 997 GT3 Cup

A nice video comparing a street 997 GT3 RS versus a 997 GT3 Cup:

There wasn't much of a comparison going on there ...

5 sec spread, not bad for a street car...

They should have put slicks on the street car too.

if you consider
2 secs for tires
1 sec for trans
1 sec for weight difference

I think that this shows you how close these GT cars really are to a cup.

It's easier to go fast in a street-GT then in a Cup...
Guess the Cup would be even more faster if Tiff had more time to get used to it! 3 or 4 laps are just not enough...

That is just nonsense IMO.
We regularly do trackdays where there are streetlegal GT3-RS cars on slicks + 997 Cup cars. There is no way the street car on slicks can keep up with the cups. The difference is HUGE (we are not talking about 1-2 seconds here). Now of course if you have a bad driver in the Cup car that is a different story, but with decent drivers behind the wheel the RS doesn't stand a chance.

For example:
Porsche Supercup (so a bog standard Cup car) in Spa, fastest lap in the race by the winner:
2:25.386 min.

A very fast pilot driving a 2010+ model GT3-RS on semi-slick tyres might get into the low 2:40's (and that is with a pro behind the wheel I guess, I have never seen anyone drive faster than a 2:44 on Spa, when checking youtube on-board videos, but then again I have never seen Sean Edwards drive Spa with a "street" GT3-RS car either).
That is a 15 to 20 seconds difference between 2 cars that have the same "base" and have approx the same engine with identical power output.

difference in rs vs cup is 5-7 sec per minute of lap time. so yes, a 2.5 min lap would see a 12-17sec difference.
