My '05 cup has an AIM MXL Pista dash...and i have a Smartycam...Does the camera just plug into the back of the dash? Do i need the ECU bridge?

Yes, the SmartyCam CAN cable (2M or 4M) plugs into the back of the AiM MXL Pista.

You must tell the MXL Pista what information that it collects that you would like to send to the SC. Do this under the Configuration page for the MXL-Pista, then the Configure SmartyCam in top right of page.

You must tell the MXL Pista that you would like to use the GPS lap timing feature enabled when using the SC with the external GPS antenna (preferred). Do this under the Configuration tab for the MXL Pista Dash indicator functions. Should read GPS, not IR Beacon.

You must load the tracks you are likely to go to onto the SC so that when it gets a GPS lock, it knows where it is and you need to do nothing more. Do this through the latest issue of SmartyManager, which includes GPS Manager.

IF you have more AiM accessories that you want to connect to the MXL Pista, then you will need an AIM CAN Hub to connect the SC and other accessories to the single connection at the back of the MXL-Pista.

Pretty cool.

There is an USB port on the AIM. Download the software from www.aim-sportline.com (racestudio), install drivers, plug the thing in and off you go!

Actually, there is not a USB port on the MXL Pista, I'm afraid.

There are two ways. The first and most common is to use a 1/8" plug to male USB download cable that should have come with the MXL-Pista. The second is a 4-pin plastic binder 712 plug to a male USB that you can plug into a "USB" pigtail off the harness that plugs back into the MXL Pista.

I'll see if I can post video and doc lists for the procedure.

I'm likely to follow these steps as well with my MXL\SC so this thread will be usefull. Thanks for asking and answering these questions.

Brant, call or e-mail Chad or Cameron at the AiM Sports Roanoke office. http://www.aimsports.com/contact/index.html

They can take your credit card and send you a download cable.

I'll keep assembling links, but start with this. Download Race Studio 2, SmartyManager and GPS Manager from links on this page: http://www.aimsports.com/weblog/index.html#a000352

Scott, I'm flying in Monday afternoon for two days with DMTD and then spending Thursday Test Day under Chris Musante's tent. Come find me or I'll look for your car.
