Default CONFIRMED: Porsche Supercup 2013 will run the 991 Cup Cars exclusively

Racecam.de, the official webpage of the Supercup just confirmed that the new 991 Cup will be in the game for 2013.

The car is Supercup-exclusive for next year and only the teams who run in the championship will get the cars. No one else...

Nope. No fotos yet...

Will post them as soon as they arrive!

Guess the new Cup will be a blast to drive! Can´t wait to see the details and to compare laptimes with the 997.2 Cups...

We'll be wondering about the engine yet again... since '05 the GT1 engine was in danger of going away.

Good. Let the Supercup series customers work the bugs out of them so that we RoW customers have it a little easier in 2014

When I hear people say that the 997.2 to 991 evolution is on par with the evolution from 993 to 996 - that makes me think the 991 will annihilate the current Cup cars.

That's excellent news. The last thing we need here in NA are PCCB's.... we don't need the extra cost.

That, and a (presumably) more durable tranny is all good.

The big question for me is which tranny they´re going to use in the car... Some say it´s the one they use in the RSR´s, others think it´s kind of a modified PDK and there are also some who think that they´ll keep the Hollinger-box as it is...

I guess the power increases up to about 480, maybe even 500 horses?

From what I have heard, its a completely new box to go with a completely new engine and car.

It makes perfect sense that the cars will be released again to supercup first as that is porsche's #1 race series and pays tons of money to Bernie E, so this will be the testing.. I mean "proving" grounds for the car before they are shipped everywhere else in the world.

Porsche engineers have access to all the ecu data in any of those cars and Im sure cars with any issues will be flagged and the engineers will be on site to collect data and send back to HQ.

If I was a 2014 991 Cup buyer, I would be very happy that SuperCup is breaking in the new models and you can see what to expect in terms of speed and new features in the 2013 season by watching and reading about these cars.

Also from what i heard, expect a price increase with the 991 Cups.. my guess is $15-$20k
