watching watkins glen on tv
#59 brumos has five lugs on BBS wheel. the spoke patter is very different than GTC5, GTC4 cup cars.

typically in grand-am with the 5 lug rule, any team Porsche using BBS use the E88.

Im pretty sure they use a center lock now, they have choice to use either but centerlock I "think" gets a time penalty to even out the playing field.

what's the penalty? is it literally a "hold" until released from pit lane? or are they allowed fewer "guns" over the wall?

You are allowed 4 air guns if you use 5 stud in grand am and 2 air guns if you use centre locks.
Brumos had some problems when they switched to centre lock this year. From memory they had a loose wheel at Detroit and a super low stop at Ohio that saw them lose a ton of places.
Maybe they have gone back to 5 stud as a result?

If your car is 5 lug you get three guns over the wall and you can utilize tire handers on the cold side of the wall to hand tires over the wall. With the single lug you can have two guns over the wall and are not allowed to utilize tire handers.

There are a few different schools of thought on doing the single lug stops, some teams will have one person do both fronts and one person do both rears, others will have up to 4 team members share the tire changing duty. The two out side guys will go over first and do their tires and run back and hop over the wall while the guys doing the insides will hop over to the hot side and start their change.

During Grand-Am pit stops your main concern as a tire changer is getting it done right and getting it done before the fuel fill is done, which on a full fuel load stop is not a problem for the 5 lug or single lug guys.

i wonder what car you are planning to install 5 lug E88 wheels?

here is a pic of your old RS with E88 black centers and E88 gold centers:
(im thinking about having my lips painted black to match the black centers)

Mooty,

If you are looking for some E88's for a 997 Cup, I have 1-2 sets.
