Default Steering wheel buttons

What are the must have controls on your steering wheel?

I had radio only on my 996, now have radio, alarm reset, and speed limiter.

Anything else a must have?

Thanks.

Depending on how much you drive in the rain, your wiper activator, push once for 1 sweep, hold down for 1 sec to turn on. Pretty much anything that you may need to activate during a race scenario. Im sure you know first hand that taking your focus off the windscreen to make sure you are reaching for the correct button can cost you, no matter how quickly you do it!!

The controls of the 2010+ Cups aren't that bad...
-High Beam (1 short push for a flash; 1 push longer then a second for switching it on until you push the button again)
-Flashing lights (2-way-switch for left and right)
-Speed-Limiter
-Windscreen wiper (same use as the high-beam-switch)
-MoTec Button for scrolling through the dash easily
-Alarm-Reset-Button

Of course you can add also stuff like a Drink-Button or a push-to-talk but I think that those listed above are enough on a wheel of a Cup... RS R or GT3 R have more, but this is another stroy imo.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing. What is the switch under the SLM?

The switch is for adjusting the brightness of the SLM and the MoTec-Dash.

OK stupid question, but are the two "blades" that mount the switches part of an aluminum piece that mounts between the hub and the steering wheel? If so is that piece available for purchase somewhere to make this easier?

Porsche Motorsport sells it. Part-No. is 997.641.583.90

Don´t know the price... Ask PMNA for it! Guess the European prices vary a bit from the ones in the US.

You can get those blades from many companies, OMP and Sparco make carbon blades to add buttons.

The ones I have found for OMP and Sparco are not as big as the blades in the picture above. I need more real estate for more switches.

Then you have to go the PMNA-way.

I guess that they aren't that expensive cause it's just some aluminium or another material... Are you running the same steeringwheel as the 997 Cups (I guess it's called OMP Superturismo) ?

I am running the earlier Momo Motorsport Cup Wheel. I will be calling PMNA after looking around without much luck.

Thanks for part number and advice.

So it's water jet time.
