996 Cup: Silent Exhaust
I am about to buy a cup car but the exhaust is making 105 Db dynamic.
If i were to proceed with the sale, i need to make it much more silent to be able to drive it at my local tracks. What are my options ?

Just got my 2000 Cup to 96.5 at 15 feet measured at Calabogie and no issues at Mont Tremblant a week ago... put on 6 inch resonators - Magnaflow - with 90 degree bent down and in... if you would like more details and pics PM me... easy on and off

Mauris, is that the factory pre silencer?
Do you have a db reading?
PMNA told me the factory pre silencer for the 997 cup only got the db reading down to the street RS level, which is 100 db.

2000cup, were you at 104-105 db before the mod?
Thanks for sharing, but I don't think they will fit on a Cup S center exhaust. Curious if they would fit on a 996 center exhaust.

Dave I made 92 db for several years in my 04' cup using just 90 degree elbows off the stock exhaust and 4" Supertraps at the ends. IIRC I used 10 plates. ALso I stuffed the air box and surrounding intake area with fire proof yellow foam. I was never black flagged in 3 years....
PS: We'll be at the LJB&TC next weekend thru Tue if you're around....

What makes them work for me is their adjustability. You can start out with 6-8 or plates like I do which keeps you within tolerance in the morning sessions when there's clouds hovering and resonating sound back to earth. When the clouds dissipate you can add more plates (louder) for qualifying and add even more or remove them altogether for the afternoon races. The plates should be at the end of 90 degree elbows facing up and away from the sound meter. It's worked for me and others for many years....

yes... and got to believe I was at least 102 - 104 before....and I do not think this would work with the center exhaust... JR seems to have a better solution for them.. I really only need them for Calabogie and Mont Tremblant..I don't run at Lime Rock anymore and no place else on the East Coast where I run has a restriction... so far
