TRG Race Report: Watkins Glen 6 Hour
Valiant Effort by TRG at Watkins Glen

A valiant effort by the three-car TRG team went awry during a 15-minute stretch inside the final two hours of the Sahlen’s Six Hours at the Glen Sunday. In the end, it was the AGUNSA/ ccni/ La Tercera No. 64 TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Eliseo Salazar, Eduardo Costabal and Santiago Orjuela that kept clean the entire race, resulting in the team’s highest finish of the day (11th).TRG’s Adobe Road Winery/ BePositive.org No. 67 driven by Al Carter, Spencer Pumpelly, and Wolf Henzler had driven an excellent race clear through the 4th hour, but it sustained a broken axle as it was catching the field under yellow. It eventually got back on track, but lost too much track time to challenge. The Forgeline / Port Lavaca No. 66 Porsche of Ben Keating, Damien Faulkner and Bryan Sellers had done a stellar job all day and were on the lead lap taking the re-start when their day come to an end early. On the re-start, the field started to check up and Keating was caught up in an “accordion” effect and was involved in a crash on the front stretch.“Hats off to the No. 64 car,” said team owner Kevin Buckler. “They drove a clean smart race and brought the car home in one piece. Not a scratch on it. These guys are real competitors and a great joy to be around. They were our heroes today, and I look forward to having them back at Indy in a few weeks.”“We were not so worried about getting a top 10 here,” said Salazar, “as we were about sharing the load over the six hours and having a good solid performance, which we think we did. Our finish here was better than Daytona earlier this year, and we’re hoping for an even better one at Indy.“Indy is my favorite track of all-time,” continued Salazar, who has sat on the front row of the storied Indianapolis 500 and placed as high as third. “The track brings back fond memories, and I am eager to add to those with the road course.”With tests for the July 27 Indy three-hour race scheduled for later this week, TRG’s main thrust is repairing the No 66 car and having more time to work on the No. 67 car that replaced the Porsche that was severely damaged in Steve Bertheau’s Road America crash two weeks ago.“Our guys did an amazing job and we had three solid cars at The Glen,” said Buckler. “ It seemed that as hard as we were pushing, we couldn’t get our times where some of the other manufacturers were running. This has become a recurring problem. It needs to be addressed by Series officials soon. We’ve got great drivers and a great crew that has always gotten results, but we clearly need a more level playing field. I was proud of all our drivers and especially our crew this weekend. Our guys and gals busted their tails. We were up there for five days and are still there working on the cars.
