I guess I am going to need a later model 996 ECU, from what I am researching the early models had limitations.
I really don't want to do another Motec 800

Actually, I haven't make up my mind exactly, but Doug should have the BMW project done in a couple of weeks, and I am feeling like I am a traitor for going over to the dark side........

So I've got a 996 motor, all the carbon fibre bumpers/fenders/doors/hood/decklid/wing from the 997 Grand Am cup laying around, so I am thinking of building a street 996 or GT3 for NASA ST2/GTS4 to play around with the local races.

Todd, I should have just bought the RS you got and I would be there.........but thats too simple.

Maybe I should just have a huge garage sale.

Dave,

Have kent build you a boxster platform and bolt all that into/on it, mobonic has a fresh gt3 box with LSD for sale...be way cheaper, you could spank some serious butt and have something a little different than all your other...how should I say, "911 based toys?"....

PS: you suck, you have way too many nice toys...

Mooty, was hoping to find a roller, just got done with a tub up build, not ready for that, yet,
I'll pm you my email address so you can send me some pics, just in case.

Jim, I have spoke to Mo regarding his motor and box, I have also spoke to someone with a 12 RS motor and box, there is a shop in LA that has just the roller I need, and they have a 3.6 Boxster as well.
Hoping to go there next week and sneak a peek.

Jim, Tod, Clay, has Doug talked to you about the latest AMP spec car?? We are looking at the Subauru, Scion, Toyota now. A buddy of mine has a Toyota dealership and he can get a block of them that he will sell at cost. He is also working with TRD and see if we can get any "assistance" so we can help them with the development for the Long Beach grand prix cars.

Should be looking under 25k for the car and around 15k - 20k for development, if we don't get anything from TRD. Could be a whole lot of fun, 5-7 guys create a series that runs AMP by ourselves and then mix in with NASA and Pro Auto. Winner of each race gets a little LEAD TROPHY that he gets to bolt in the car

I agree. Someone needs to let me build a Boxster "Cup Car". Cup Uprights, brakes, engine, inverted trans, Motons/JRZ's/Ohlins... I have built it in my head so many times...

Just think... mid-engine Cup Car... The 986 has a slightly longer wheelbase and is lighter than the 996...

Kent,

I'm really worried I'm going to end up there one part at a time. Already thinking about the LSD and some A6's and moving to GTS, and then there's that wing and cup nose I have sitting in the garage...

Every time I sit in the boxster I almost fool myself its the cup until I fire the motor...
With the gt3 arms and links it is really a ball to drive, with better rubber it could be amazingly cupish...with the full setup/cup motor I think it would handily spank a cup, the balance is that nice.

Dave, you might want to come back out and see whats been going on in big bore, everyone has stepped up the speed. A lot of new motors and better setups on cars have been moving the bar up.

Yea Doug was showing me the B spec info, It would be a blast if there were a bunch of cars, but its always the issue of the first one in the pool....and I know what thats like... and then theres the inevitable comparison when you get out of your cupS...
