Default What oil...

...do you use in your cars? I am running Motul 300V 10w40 in my BMWs with great success. At the moment, I am running Agip iRide 10w60 in my '02 Carrera racer. At the next oil change, I am going to try Agip 20w50 iRide. I have four track days on the iRide 10w60, and I love it. The Pcar ate up half a quart, and doesn't have any smoking issues. I am also going to try Motul 300V 15w50 in the Pcar and the iRide 20w50/10w60 in my supercharged M3 once it's finished in a couple weeks for comparison purposes when I analyze the oil.

O my God Ricky, I don't believe any of those are Porsche approved oils and a W60 in a M96 engine? There are those here that will banish you to IMS hell for using that! Seriously though my engine has been and still is using Amsoil 20-50. It ran 10k track miles until the crank broke and showed no wear once it was dissasembled for a rebuild. Now it has 3.5k racing miles on the rebuild and I run 800 to 1k miles between changes and do anayalsis each time with no issues so far. So using the good stuff and keeping it clean it the right thing to do, despite whats approved or not.

Boy oh boy aren't we rebellious! Non Pcar approved oil? I'm surprised my engine isn't foaming up and exploding! I'm glad to hear somebody else running nutty oil--nice not be alone here in the luny bin! Given what you use, I'll use the 20w50 racing bike Agip next oil change and then we can exchange analysis results? I don't know why I didn't think of Amsoil. Have you considered any of the Motul 300V 15w50? What engine temps are you seeing on track? (sorry for all the questions)

Now I'm really going to be shunned. Just bought a 12 case of 300V 20w60 Lemans. Sounds good to me. I'll be curious to see what it's like. I will probably just run it in my BMW, but I'll experiment around and see what car it benefits most. http://www.motul.com/system/product_...pdf?1302115046

I'm usually just over the 180 on the gauge. I have the 3rd rad and no ac condensers or fans. PM me and we can compare oil results. I'll have to scan them.
