Various Series Cup Car differences
Maybe worth a discussion about the various distinctions between the various cup car series, their configurations, powers, laps times that exist in the various series with which we are familiar. Maybe James from GMG or Autometrics or one of the squads that actually has raced or, better, is still racing in the various series could give us some idea of the difference between all these cup cars in their various series.
Without straining my brain too hard, we've got:
1. stock IMSA GT3 cup, platinum class...
2. ALMS GTC cup - no idea differences between this and stock imsa.
3. Grand Am Rolex GT3 Cup - seems lke lots of changes permitted, suspension, springs, shocks, gearbox, lexan windows, headers exhaust, 3.8l sealed or 4.0l sealed but restricted; lighter; carbon bits permitted; brake calipers; more aero fenders, splitter, rear quarters, big tires, a few other things. a few seconds lap faster than stock imsa.
4. world challenge gt3cup - no idea.

1. stock IMSA GT3 cup, platinum class...
< fast
2. ALMS GTC cup - no idea differences between this and stock imsa.
< you run a restrictor and you have adj dampers and other brakes pads and discs for enduro. not realy faster than the stock imsa challenge car

< the biggest thing is the RSR gearbox you can run. then biger tires, better exhaust etc etc
4. world challenge gt3cup - no idea.
<cup car with more power
buy a GT3R and save your money on expensive mods

Burning Brakes
ALMS GTC car is slower than a IMSA Platinum car due to the restrictor. GTC also allows bumper bars under the bumper cover in the front. Suspension options are the same, you can run stock or aftermarket dampers.

What little I know about the WSC cars comes from James's posts. The motor are allegedly putting out 450-460 flywheel, they run larger rims and tires I think 280's/320's Pirellis, they have more aero up front and with their wing, and I believe suspension and brakes are free. I don't know if they're geared any differently.....

I don't know too much more than what's already been posted, but I can shed a little light on World Challenge specs. Keep in mind that my car is a few years old, relative to current WC cars, so there may be some differences.
1. Bigger front splitter.
2. Can run ABS, and change master cyl.
3. Front uprights from an RSR, allowing more adjustment and the adaptation of larger brake kit.
4. Larger wheels, all around. I run 285's in front and 325's in the rear.
5. WC did have their own spec engine, a 3.6 liter 2-ring piston set up that redlined at 8900. Power was approximately 440. Now it's a 3.8 at about 460-470, like JR said.
6. Exhaust could be modified (not sure about that now). On my car, they ran the RSR set up.
7. I think the rear uprights are also from an RSR, but I can't remember...
8. Taller rear wing than 2006-2009 cars, now probably the same. Wider chord, and can run deeper endplates.
9. Shocks and springs are free.
10. Oddly enough, my car came with a brake misting set up. I've not used it, but it's there. I wonder how many others have something like this?
I bought my car from K-Pax in May of 2009. Later that summer I saw Tony Rivera's car at Road America. Notice anything unusual?

Everything is moved over 4 inches towards the center of the car. Note that the Motec dash is off center, and that the steering column lines up directly beneath it. JR mentioned the "box" next to his left leg, that's padding to protect the driver. It's hard to tell from the picture, but that pad projects further into the car than would be normally possible in a 997 Cup.
