Default THrottle position sensor at 75%. What is acceptable?

From what I remember anything above 80% would give you the WOT signal, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm showing 75% now. (01 Cup).

Can I just slot the sensor to rotate it or is there a better way? Throttle is getting full travel to the stop. Looks like the oil filter console has to come off to access the screws for the TPS?

Thanks!

Can't you just calibrate it ? With the Motec it is as simple as that. Don't know your config ;-)

i know that there is not much of a power difference from 80 to 100% actual throttle position, if there was to large of a deviation i am sure it would come up as MIL

The throttle plate is in the correct position, not worried about that. ...however the ecu parameters change when it senses WOT which I've heard doesn't happen untill 80% indicated. Several ex-pro mechanics advised me to check this. I'd rather not give up free ponies...

Looks like I'll just remove the throttle bodies and slot the sensor holes and check/adjust it while off the intake.

Chris - please document what you do and the results - i suspect these tps wear out with time, as mine (my 2000 car)is currently showing 84% and a friends 75% (aso a 2000 car but with more usage) - and definately affecting performance imho

Thanks in advance

V12, I'll do that. I think just slotting the sensor holes for some rotation will do it. Taking the throttle body off this weekend.

FWIW you don't need a PIWIS to run this. I got the cable and software here:
Amazon Amazon

It's able to read my ecu and comes up with most available parameters in both real-time and has a code reader and reset.

I pulled the sensor off this weekend and operated it to the range limits by hand. THe reading would not exceed 76% even after cleaning. THis week we will xref to a Porsche PIWIS tester to see if the software by Durametric is accurate.

If it is, I assume then, that the sensor is bad and will have to be replaced. If not, well, an angrygram to the software maker will be the next order of business. I'll post later this week when I have the xref results.

Chris - any update.

Small update from my side - Tim replaced his TPS and its back reading 100% on the new one - he thinks performance is improved at the top end.

Okay - FInal update

THe new sensor arrived. It also showed 76% at max on the Durametric reader. We hooked them both up to a PWIWS tester and they also showed 76%. At this point I was quite concerned because I had *heard* that the system didn't get the WOT throttle signal untill 80%.

We found a WOT indicator in the PWIWS menu and read that. Maniupulated the throttle and the WOT was still being triggered at around 70%. So I'm not sure WHY last year the sensor showed 81% at full throttle and now it shows 76% but I guess it really doesn't matter? I'm going to stop worrying about it as my annual dyno should show if there was any anomaly which I doubt.

Digging this thread...

Is there anyway I can check my TPS % using motec system?
