Default 997 fuel tank in 996?

Does anybody know if the stock 997 Cup fuel tank will fit in a 996 Cup Car? Client is wanting to get rid of the fuel cell and put a stock tank back in for financial reasons. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sloan Urry

99.9% sure it will not work as the fuel tank surround in the front tub is very different in a 6 and 7. The fuel cells are certainly not transferable - but I am not 100% on the stock tanks. They are definitely different part numbers....

Yea I looked around yesterday with my techs, came to the conclusions that they aren't transferable.
