996 CUP HEADLIGHT LENS
Considering replacement, strictly cosmetic, of my pitted headlight lens, 996 cup.
1) Is there a process that can be done to bring back "like new"a badly pitted lens?
2) Is it possible to just simply buy a new lens?
3) Or, is the only option to replace the whole headlight assembly?
a) What is the part # for headlight assembly for 996 cup?
Thanks.

I have seen threads on RL regarding polishing out light scratches so I would do a quick search.
As far as I know from having replaced them on my 996 in the past, the headlight assembly is all one part. Note that 99-01 are one type and 02-04/05 are another.

I have an 03 cup and had to replace a taillight. I suspect you will find, as I did, that the good news it that the part is production, not motorsports, but the bad news is that it is a German part, not a US part. They may be interchangeable physically, but probably will not be identical. My manual shows a headlamp assembly, a rear cap, and a variety of bulbs - the lens is not separate. If it helps, the 03 part numbers for the headlamp assembly are right: 996.631.056.50; left: 996.631.055.50

Headlight lens restoration system is a 4 step process that restores the clarity of yellowed, scratched, hazed or dull headlight lenses. Includes (1) disc pad adapter, (6) gold sanding discs, (4) white finishing discs, (1) Trizact gray refining disc, (1) 1 ounce rubbing compound and (1) buffing pad. You will need to supply a standard 1200-1600 rpm household drill, automotive masking tape, microfiber detail cloth and a spray bottle with water.
