Parting out 2008 997 WC 3.8 Spec Cup Car
#16
Guys, I don't want to hijack James' thread. But I have bought both, a competitive V3 to join the fun in the POC and a 997 Cup to just see how fast I can really go... Work prevents me from jumping into the fray until March or so, but the foundation is being set now. Cheers, John

Big 928, I may have the entire chassis sold so I am hesitant to want to sell the uprights individually since it will relegate the car as a non-roller.
I do believe I have some 30 hour take off uprights from our WC Cup cars that may be another option for you. Are you looking for a particular year of uprights?
Mike, the blue and orange car is now owned by a gentleman in the Northwest who bought it about a year ago.........he loves it.
This car that I am parting out is actually the 2008 Championship winning WC Cup driving by Randy Pobst.......it has some good history. The Vin # is there and I still think it's repairable.....

hi james,
im currently building a cayman with 997 gt3 rsr bodywork/ wheels/ brakes etc with a air cooled 993 gt2 evo motor. its on 996 road car uprights so the car can be rolled about in our workshop.
what year uprights would you recommend(the later the better i guess ?) i have 997 cup ohlins 3 way, i think they are 08 if they fit differently in different years? any advise on what uprights to use would be great for this frankensteins monster! i need a cup rack/ steering arms as well as if you have any. the car is on 310-710-18 rear tyres and 300-650-18 front if any of this info helps with which hubs to use.
many thanks in advance, regards mark

hi james
what would you recommend for this application, with the tyre sizes im using etc. the 996 rsr or your wc cup uprights. sorry to be a pain in the ***. we havent done any work with these cars before only older air cooled race cars. also what sort of prices are 2 front and 2 rear 997 wc cup or 996 rsr uprights.
many many thanks again, regards mark

I think these would work great for your application although it does sound unique.

Just an fyi, I am 99% sure that 997 cup front calipers will not bolt to 996 rsr uprights. The rsr uprights have a very large bolt spread for the calipers. 997 cup uprights are very similar (possibly identical, but I haven't yet confirmed this) geometrically to 996 RSR, except they have a narrower bolt spread for the calipers.

Mark,
Clay is right, the OEM 997 Cup Calipers/Rotors will work on the RSR uprights.
You are better off getting stock 997 Cup uprights which we might have.

Mark,
Let me see if I have any 997 Cup uprights at this time.
I do know I have (2) new 996 RSR front uprights (used for Grand Am) and (2) 30-hr used 996 RSR uprights.
Thanks,
James
