Cup auto blipper
#16
Anyone else with a 2010-2011 autoblipper car notice that it lifts off the throttle on upshifts? I know it's a mechanical linkage, but I thought it only moved on downshifts... here's a snapshot of some motec data from Monday when I drove my 2011 for the first time (w/ the autoblipper). Is it supposed to do that?
So far, I'm not a fan of the blipper. It doesn't feel like it blips enough when driving with anger. We "maxed" it out and it only appears to do about a 40% throttle blip. For reference, the green line in the graph is mine while testing the autoblipper with no extra help from me. The red line is my coach helping the blipper.
I think we're going to pull it off before testing the car again next week...

I have data from my 2009 and a 2008 with the PMNA auto-blipper. Same thing, but there's a sharper drop.
With respect to how much it blips, I find the more smooth/deliberate/strong you are the more it blips. If you try to "jam" the shifter on the downshift, you get less of a blip.

pmna is ajust little cam roller under the shift lever. the throttle cable is rerouted under the shift lever over the cam, you push lever forward, raises roller, cable tension is added, blip occurs.
the manthey is an arm, like the one in the photo that when you push forward it pushes the arm forward and thru some linkages, pushes a little "kick drum" on the throttle cable.
the PMNA because its tied into the cable, if you use the pmna autoblipper AND also crack the pedal with your heel(manual blipping) together, you simply double up the throttle input. not good.
the manthey because it pushes on the pedal rather than pulls on the cable, might be a good safeguard for those who like manual blipping. its probably that it doesnt double up onthe blip as your heel will have moved the pedal down when you hit it manually and thus the kick drum lever just never hits nothing as the pedal is out of the way.
not sure whats going on there with the one in that photo but looks like a manthey type design.

Rod comes off of the shifter underneath the center console and as you push the lever it pulls the attached linkage and blips the pedal. The cable blipper will lose its throttle percentage over time. No hole drilling required, if you have the pedal pre-made its a 15 min bolt in.

John,
Go with the PMNA version as parts are more available than the Manthey racing and it's fairly straightforward of an install.
We can do it for you if you like.

I want to check it out on your cars on the GMG trackday Dec 1. I will have my Cup there the next day (Friday) for the test and tune day. Thursday I have to get the V3 ready for the weekend and put away so I can play with the Cup on Friday! Looks like good weather is forecast for for Thursday!
