Default 03 996 cup VS 05 996

Should I pay up for an 2005 cup. Much difference in long term value. Is the performance difference @ WGlen significant. Looking for clean 996cup 03-05.
I think?

Well the 05's are the last year of 6-cup production so there has to be some added value in that alone. Mechanically though, the 03'-05' cups are identical. The roll bars behind the seats are slightly different to accomodate what was then the new Hans type devices which were becoming popular. Some say the chassis is stiffer on the later cars because of those added cross bars but I can't see it. The driver make the biggest difference....

I had heard that all things the same and 05 would be 1-2sec faster at a a long course like Watkins Glen (3.5) then an 03. What do you think?

Thanks Bob

As John said the 05 and 03 are identical with the exception of 1 diagonal bar in the cage behind the driver. No way is that 1 sec much less 2, same motor, same gearbox etc...same car.

I bought a 997 Cup from these guys. If they say they have a clean car, they have a clean car.

You should see their garage!

I thought the 04-05 also had gussets on the A pillar tubes of the cage along with the X on the main hoop. That would also help in the stiffness of the car.
