Default Need a SPA cup car fire system ASAP!

Trying to track down a SPA 4L electric system to make a race the first week in June and seems they are backordered everywhere!

Anyone have one? Know a shop that has one on the shelf?

Please PM or email me: claykos@gmail.com

Is that the system that comes in the gt3 cups? My mechanic set it off by mistake at Lime Rock. All it did was get my seat and engine wet, very poor fire prevention. I think I will change it out to a more robust system like the big Halon tank in my '73.

Hmm...was it old and had not been recharged in many years? That's interesting to know - I thought they were a top of the line system...

My system was charged up fine and no older than the car (08). I had been told how weak they were before but when I saw it, I was rather surprised at HOW weak they are.

hmmm...maybe I should just buy a different system since it seems no one in the US has one of these on the shelf right now.

I got a SAFECRAFT system years ago, it was one of the best at the time, not sure what's hot (!) now but I would get the biggest best system you can, and the SPA is not it, IMHO.

Ckay... check the 6-GT3 forum for the for sale thread "Help me buy Cup car"... on the 3rd page, sounds like Vic has a system for sale.

Thanks. Word is they have been on back order for over a year from SPA and there are issues with one of SPAs suppliers (depending on who you talk to it's either the firing system, or the tanks - firing system seems more likely to me since the mechanical units are available).

Clay,

Spa has no ETA on these and in fact, we've had them on order for months. I don't know the rules here, but I do have Sabelt versions for you in stock. No alloy electrical, but I have steel electrical and alloy manual. Will email you.
