Default Track Support Costs?

Curious what others are paying for track support. I am just getting into club racing and am thinking about hiring one of the mechanics that works on my car as support during a three day race event. I will be supplying all tools, parts, fuel etc..

The shop is suggesting I pay the hourly mechanic rate for the support.

Is this typical or is it more common to pay a daily rate or a weekend rate?

What should I expect to pay?

Thanks.

It depends on how you define "support." What do you want the person/people to do? Ae they just fixing something if it's broken? Are they doing everything but driving the car? Do you want an engineer (someone who can help you with setup)? Do you want them to provide refreshments, etc? It really all depends.

If you just want a mechanic, the hourly rate for the exact number of hours you're there is pretty cheap....

Thanks for the things to think about. The kind of support can certainly vary.

Cheapest you will generally find is $375-400 a day per car if one tech is caring for 2 cars...
That would be on a club level race or DE. It goes up from there.
So depending on the hourly rate and what you are expecting as for support you can somewhat draw your own conclusion as to what is fair.

I would agree with Matt....$350-500/day is the range that I've seen. Then you add to that "special" work at $100/hour for things like a clutch replacement or engine work, or specific suspension work like replacing springs or changing dampers. The base rate just covers simple maintenance.
