Trying to establish a fair price for a 993 Cup seat.
It's a Recaro Cup Racer 96 manufactured in 97 with Porsche crest in very good condition. It was the factory seat in the late 993 Supercup and 98 996 Cup. Any thoughts are appreciated. It is for a fellow Rennlister.

With the crest makes it more than a normal Cup Racer, I'd say $1000 if the bolsters are still fresh.

Bolsters are fresh, no rips or tears. Thanks for the input, anyone else?

Is it a carbon seat or fiberglass?

$1k seems a bit high for a 14 year old seat to me. That's close to the new price for a Recaro Pro Racer HANS. But if it is Carbon and in excellent condition, and needed for "originality" in a 993 cup, well maybe it's worth it. Hard to say. I personally wouldn't spend $1k on a 14 year old seat, but then having the Porsche crest on the seat isn't that important to me!

last Pro Racer I bought was about $1600 if memory serves, but that may have been a custom model. I guess if you have lots of patience you can still add the Porsche crest since the patch is available. I did that once and it took all day to remove the cover, stitch the thing on straight and put it all back together again. I know some people may not care about the patch, but that is what makes it more valuable than a run of the mill seat that was probably taken out new because it was too narrow. I was just throwing out a number that I thought was fair.

I just tried to order the Recaro Hans Pro Racer (1700.00 plus freight) and it is on a 2 month back order. That is even without the expensive crest.......

I guess maybe prices have gone up! Last one I ordered was either 1195 or 1295...

If a new "regular recaro" is 1700, then I guess $1000 for an excellent condition used seat with the porsche crest is probably reasonable. I'd say on the high side, but reasonable.
