996 V's 997
Hello,
Just a quick question about the difference in speed. On a quick track with a lap time of about 1:30 there seems to be 1.5 - 2.0 seconds, a small tight track with 1:10 lap time about 1 second difference... Just evaluating the possibilty of running a 2006 997 next year or just run my current 2002 996? Just seeing what everyone's thoughts are on the speed difference per lap & is there much of a difference in terms of maintenance over a season.
I would love to drive the 997 I'm just trying to crunch some numbers together & seeking some advice thats all.
Thanks for your time.
cheers

Why is speed your deciding factor? You can buy a jacked up vette for half the price of these cars and go even faster than the 997 Cup if you want. The 997 is a pure race car. The 996 is a race version of a street car. Both are fast in the hands of the right driver. This weekend at RA, there were 996 Cups faster than 997 Cups. And I mean ones that were legal!
The only difference in running costs between the two is the sequential gearbox. And that can be substantial. But both have HUGE running costs vs. a street car turned racecar.
