The only differences between the super cup and "regular" models as far as I know are the ceramic brakes and the muffler delete. The FIA gt3 class is a lot different. They are using the cup S for that series.

do you mean the Cup S cars? Super Cup cars are essentially standard Cup cars with PCCB. Cup S cars on the other hand are what people run on FIA GT3 events and have considerable upgrades over the Cup car.

That is some serious coin. I spend that amount for a DE complete season.... Thanks for the data points. I have been wondering the running costs of IMSA...

It might not be as much as a PCA season but it's a hefty bill for a weekend of fun.

The racing is great though. I wish I had the time and the money to do more of it.
note to self, do not buy a cup car and definitely do not race one

Definitely NOT for the faint of heart, or light of wallet!

I guess it's worth it to those who do it.... I have a good friend who's doing it and doing well. Sure it's expensive but if you are interested in taking your driving/race craft to another level, it's pretty damn good racing.

+1. Something out there for everyone. I ran a DE a few weeks ago, and some of the "old guard" guys thought I was nuts to throw thousands at a spec miata weekend. To each their own, but I'm either going to stay home or do it right. You get what you pay for, in most cases.

I think that it is exposing some very good club racers to a broader audience.
