Do you have any pics of what you installed? Are they big and blocky?
I was down there this weekend trying to learn the track. I'll be at the race the end of the month.

OK guys,
The 996 GT3RS Street upright is a unique part. It is simillar to the GT3RSR race car upright, but not the same. the Street part will accept the street/cup brakes and the race version will not. Also the amount of drop in the ball joint/tie rod area is much bigger on the RSR race part.
996 Cup parts are exactly the same as the street GT3 parts.
The 997 GT3 street part is closer to the 996 RSR part, but also different in it's brake mounts and ball drop droop. The 997 GT3 Cup upright is all together different from the street parts and the 996 RSR parts.
So, bottom line..the best part for a 996 GT3 street car would be the GT3RS street part..nice fit and good benefit. However..!! the fronts should only be used if you also use the REAR RS uprights...it changes the whole geometry and should be used as a set.

On these GT3RS (street car) uprights the distance between the center of the bearing and the ball joint is 6" compared to a street 996 part which is 4". I'm assuming the Cup part goes a little further even but it would be interesting to know the difference.
I think this RSR setup is probably the way to go for a C2 996 -- I can't run cup ride height anyway because of the lack of tire clearance.
Is the issue you mentioned by not using the rear RSR uprights because of the roll axis? I don't have your knowledge on these things, so I'm asking The front roll center (I think) is very close to the ground with the front RS uprights. With the 4-link rear is the roll center height changing dramatically with the RS rear upright vs the stock 996 rear upright?

So the issue is, with anything other than the 996 GT3 RS (street) or 996 Cup uprights, the GT3 brakes calipers will not fit. And out of those two, the RS are the better option.

Maybe I'm reading Rick's post differently -- there are many versions of these uprights. Rick is saying (I think) that the cup car parts, the gt3 street car parts, and the gt3rs (also street car) parts are all different. All three of these have the wider caliper spacing.
I was asking the measurement difference between the gt3rs upright and the cup upright -- I know of cup cars that run the gt3rs front uprights.

100% Incorrect! The front uprights on the 996.1 GT3, 996.2 GT3 and 996.2 Cup are the same part # 996.341.157/158.91. The 996.2 GT3 RS (street) is different 996.341.157/158.92. The 997 cup is also different.

Still trying to figure out the exact technical differences between the GT3 street / GT3 Cup and the GT3 RS uprights. Looks like:
1. Dual bolts
2. Higher steering link arm
3. Revised roll center geometry
???
