Cup Cars to have Lower HP than GT3
Saw an article the other day(sorry can't remember where) on the Cup Car- Amongst other things it stated that it would only have 400 hp,15 hp less than the normal GT3. I was wondering why this would be. The car in the article had a martini livery and looked fantastic. Also it said that PCNA would not allow the cars to be sold to collectors, so they must be raced I assume. $175K U.S. I think if you wan't one. Sounds cheap for a ready-to go race car.

Like the street GT3RS, they ARE cheap if you can get one at the list price due to supply/demand.
But in both cases that is NOT EASY.
It also sounds cheap when you compare it to the GT3 RSR Race car (or the Spyder....)
Good luck!

I thought the variocam was mainly for mid-range gains without losing at the top end. Not arguing, and I'm no expert, but it seems that high end horsepower could be preserved with the upper range variocam "setting". No?

The torque is where the varioram is making a difference, GT3: 405NM @ 5,500 RPM whereas the Cup has 400NM@ 6500RPMs..

I had a batch of 2002 engines, the best made 'over 405' on the engine brake in factory trim. The guys at Weissach 'thought' it was a 2003.
At the time, I believe the standard for the Supercup was 'around 390', they expected the engines to be 'better' than that.
All these numbers and descriptions are in quotation marky because, that is the way it is at Weissach, they 'hate' revealing absolute numbers. So you end up having 'oblique' conversations as to whether or not you should buy another engine.
