Default 996 Cup 2003 just purchased Introduction & advice needed

Hi,

I've been racing Porsches since 1997 but this year I've been lucky enough to aquire my first Cup car. Its a 2003 996 Gen 2 and has spent most of its life competing in endurance races in the UK but since finishing 3rd overall and winning its class in the Silverstone 24 hours in 2010, its mostly been stood around. I checked it over and replaced the clutch and changed the oil and it ran perfectly for a shakedown test at Donnington Park last month followed by another outing at Oulton Park last week.

I'm intending to race it at select events next season. Possibly in the Masters GT Trophy in the UK and maybe an overseas trip to compete in some of the HSR meetings in the US.

I've managed to trace most of its history apart from the first few years of its life. I'm interested to know if its been raced in the Carrera Cup GB and if so which team. What would members recomend the best way forward to try and find more information on its early history?

I've had a new colour scheme designed based on a period Mobil One / Mitchelin livery but in blue and yellow instead of blue and red. Pics below and of the car when it raced in Britcar in 2009 / 2010.

Congratulations on your new car, nothing like a three pedal Cup Car.

If you google the VIN there is a website that has race info for most pro raced cup cars.

They are coming into their own on the historic racing side. Particularly if they have good provenance. If you’re interested, having the car in original livery and spec is a big plus.

Congrats, the liveries look awesome. 996 cups are criminally undervalued IMO. I put mine back to its original Carrera Cup Aus livery in 2020.

https://www.racingsportscars.com/car...oogle_vignette
this site lets you look up my VIN but I don’t think I has the Carrera cup or Supercup races listed.

They all have 3 pedals: 964, 993, 996, 997, 991, 992 and even the 944 turbo cup.
