991.1 Cup Alternator Options
What options are there to replace or rebuild a 991.1 150A alternator, aside from purchasing brand new from PMNA (they quoted me nearly $5000 for one, and it's non-stocked special order with no ETA!!).
2016 tech manual part number = 9976030198B, PMNA superseded part number = 9976030198C
Couldn't find any clearly labeled rebuild kits. I bought the factory alternator from the 2011 997.2 GT3RS 3.8L street car and while the electrical specifications and size is nearly identical, the housing is rotated on the cup car so the street car unit can't be directly retrofit to the cup (Part #: 997-603-022-04-M14)
It's an item that all 991.1 Cup owners are going to need to address sooner or later, so I figured it a worthwhile discussion to have on the forums.

You can use a Bosch AL 0815N ( 05 GT3 street car) which new is $450 ish on the internet
Remove the brace over the top and you'll have to rotate it to fit but it will and works perfect

Test fired today - working great so far! Will be running it at track tomorrow and will follow up. At idle, it was pushing a steady 13.8V whereas my last two alts as they got up in age were at 13.7 and 13.6V at idle.
Install was mostly painless, you just need to flip the e-torx bolt in the bottom left corner to come in from the back of the alternator bracket rather than the front (see pics). Right side bolt is easier this way because the bushing on the backend of the alternator is threaded, vs the motorsport part where you have to try to hold a nut at an extremely confined angle behind the alt.
Bolts up and tensions without issue.
Feels extremely rigid. The street unit is a bit longer but there is a lot of deadspace available.
