Nobody installs the noise pads on Cups... Not even Porsche Motorsport.

Different rotors aren´t necessarily a bad thing either...

I´ll stop-by and say hello if i see your car trackside next year. I´m often at Spa, Dijon or other tracks around Europe.

RSR Spa has nice open Pitlane days! Dijon with the Pistenclub is also often a real blast!

Congratulation and welcome. Chasing down the history of the cars and what work they have had done is all part of the fun of owning an old cup car

I can tell you the second exhaust is not factory cup. This is what the factory cup muffler looks like in 2003. In 2004 they went to a pressed steel design but very similar shape.

Hello and welcome! I was at the Trackday at Spa-Francorchamps too, with my 2005 996 GT3 Cup (black ,white livery). I ve seen your car in the pitbox, what confused me was the hole for a rear wiper , just under the rear windscreen....never seen that before on a Cupcar?

Thanks Spiller,

So, it looks like my "Cup exhaust" was not a factory one.
I understood that the Cup exhaust 2005 MY had cats inside.
Maybe that's why I lost power with mine, because it seems to be empty.
It could explain why it had two home made valves on it.

Thanks.
I remember your car, I tried to follow you when I saw you on the track.

I don't know if it's strange to have a hole for a rear wiper on a Cup car.
In Switzerland, all Swiss versions of the 996 Turbo mkII had a rear wiper, like mine.
It was not an option.
So, I thought every 996 mkII had this hole.
VIN is from a real Cup, not a Cupified GT3, so I don't know if it's normal or not.
I'll learn more about that point.

Maybe I didn't use the good term.
I was talking about that :

These are not required on a cup. Only the retaining bolt.

yes that is correct, all of the 996 cups had internal cats in the muffler.

also your motor seems to be making good HP!

Cheers

Thanks for your feedback.
I can endurstand it's useless to do a long time race, in case you have to change the pads during the race.
But for doing trackdays, it's not very expensive, and my ears appreciate that.
It's referenced for the front brakes on the Porsche Motorsport's catalog.
It's not for the rear brakes, but it's the same brake repair kit than the 996 Turbo (996.351.959.01).

Winter is coming, so it's time to take care of this beauty.

Incoming :
  • new spark plugs
  • new ignition coils
  • compression test
  • cylinders inspection
  • injector refresh
  • new lambda probes
About injector refresh, I would like to know if a sealing/filter kit exists.
Any idea ?

Ok, so I found what I need to rebuild my injectors.
It's not specific of the car, but of the injector type.
For a 996 Cup (98-05) or a 997 Cup 3.6, injector type is Bosch EV6.
And there's a lot of repair kits with new seals and new filters for Bosch EV6 injectors on the market.
