Post 996 GT3 RSR spark plugs... insane cost

Hello all you Porsche engine builders..
Just tried to order 6 Bosch # 087712-07 / Porsche # 999 170 208 90 Race spark plugs for 996 RSR
Ready for this COST $1653.70 US.
I usually paid about $60-70 each
Does anyone know of another source or different brand/plug??

The only difference is that Porsche has the plugs x-rayed to verify the construction quality, to prevent a known failure method. The last time I bought them I paid $250 a plug. I think the issue here is that they have not run a new batch and supply is low.
I understand that some others are running NGK plugs but I have never been able to get a PN out of them. I have around 50 of the original plugs and think it may just be better to run them and increase the intervals since we run such short stints.

Offline I received a comment that the DENSO IXU01-31 is a cross for the Bosch 087712-07. The electrodes are 100% welded and inspected by Denso and they have an improved insulator to handle coil-pack vibration. They are only $33.00 apiece so I may grab a set to look at them.

Hi Chris,
I too saw that Denso makes a plug that cross references to the Bosch, but I don't have any experience with Denso. I was told basically te same thing you have already stated about the low supply and batch run.
Thanks for you reply...( maybe you want to part with 6 of them ? )

My engine currently has the Bosch 087712 plugs - trying to figure out what are suitable replacements. It looks like the Bosch Y5DDC that was used in later cup cars is the same 12mm thread and 19mm reach. I think the y5ddc might also be unobtanium, but there's some NGKs that are replacements. Anyone know if there's some reason these won't work in an RSR type setup? Dimensionally they seem correct....

For anyone else out there, I have been using these: NGK 6839 R2349-10 Racing Plug

They are surface discharge so no electrodes to break off. Believe this is the same plug used on the 991 but 1 heat range cover colder.

I just changed mine after 45 hours of use. I had no issues to speak of with the old ones but just thought it was a good idea
