Default 997.2 Cup Low Coolant Pressure & Oil Temp

I recently bought a 997.2 Cup, and from the very first session, I get Coolant Pressure Lo warning lights on the MoteC dash. It doesn't happen absolutely every session, but the majority of time it does. Any ideas? Does the coolant system need to be bled? Is it a thermostat issue?

Also, what is the typical oil temp range when on the track (not in traffic; but in a fairly open track)? My temp typically runs 210 F and above.

I would appreciate any feedback. I am a newbie in the Porsche Cup car world. Thanks!

Probably a bad pressure sensor. In the 997.1 cup it is on the driver's side towards the front of the engine compartment in one of the coolant lines. I had the same problem and replaced the sensor. Never had another low pressure warning again.

I also had intermittent water pressure alarms. Replaced sensor twice, water pump once. Ultimately changed alarm parameters to not generate alarms unless pressure low for several seconds. You can check your pressure readings for an outing in the Motec data to get a perspective of whether it is an intermittent issue. Obviously low coolant or air in the system can be a factor. Check coolant level, air will ultimately work its way out. In my experience low pressure alarm without coolant overheating was minimal concern, resolved as mentioned.

210+ for oil temp. is routine. Just looked at some race data from my 997.2 to confirm, at Sebring in 80 degree weather oil temp 222.8, water temp 180.5.

Default Very Helpful

Thank so much for all of the info. Decided to replace water pump and sensor. Hopefully, it goes away.

Good luck. For me the alarms kept happening despite changing sensor and water pump - until I changed the Motec alarm configuration to not give alarm unless the water pressure was low for 10 seconds. Very little risk of hurting anything by delaying water pressure alarm until low for 10 seconds if coolant temp is OK, and you have a separate alarm for Water Temperature.
