Default Vin number

I'm looking at buying a 997.2 Cup that has been re-shelled. The "window" at the bottom of the windscreen is now blank. Is the vin number displayed anywhere else? I need it in order to insure the vehicle and it would also be nice just to know. Many thanks.

The VIN stamped in front of the battery is the one that counts, the window VIN doesn't have much meaning - and zero value in getting a new tub.

Thank you. Just to be clear, the car already has a new tub hence there not being a VIN number in the windscreen.

So to clarify, the VIN you are taking about on the windscreen doesn’t matter on a Cup tub - where the red circle is there is a stamped VIN number. That is the VIN plate that matters.

When you buy a new tub that VIN plate must be cut out of the damaged tub and sent in, only then will a new tub be issued with the same VIN number stamped on the new tub that arrives. Make sense? The VIN plate in the windscreen has no meaning or value.

If the tub’s stamped VIN plate is cut out on the car that your looking at and not where this one is circled, the tub isn’t a new tub and was repaired and technically shouldn’t be a car because that would mean there is two of the same VIN cars out there. And you have no way to purchase a new tub if you damage yours, thus making it of little value.

Hope that helps.
