Just sent out an update with our email blast today. Plastic injection house has the material now. They were waiting for a pair of interlocks which should have arrived Friday. They plan on running about 10 and leaving them sit to settle this week so that we can check size. Then, they plan on getting us back into the machine the week after.

Thanks

Ed

Like a golf ball. The dimples are all gone. The mold warmed up after about 5, it filled great.

Guys,

Here is the update.

We finally got the material, the mold and everything all together. The manufacture made samples from the material and, they are too soft. Too floppy. Not rigid enough.

So, we have sent off a sample of the original splitter to the material supplier this wee for them to evaluate the material to tell us what we ordered wrong. It could be that we can blend two materials to get the part to the same rigidity of the original.

Everything is taking too long for my taste and I am pushing as hard as I can, but still can not **** them off too bad.

Thanks

Ed

I agree with Pranqster. This is a slow process no matter how hard I push.

Here is where we are at. New material has been identified by the lab. It is actually the same TPU material as originally sourced, just a different shore hardness as the first.

They sourced a 50lb container of the new material and have made a few trial spoilers. They have the stiffness / flexibility combination that we are looking for.

The 996 cup cars that we have here are all fiberglass bumper cars. No factory urethane bumpers, so I can not test fit it with a car to evaluate shrink and fit. It fits up perfect on the fiberglass bumper, but that does not mean that the holes are in the right spot.

What I am looking for in a couple of guys with factory bumpers and the willingness to fit them on right away so that we can release them to buy the production quantity of plastic.

Thanks

Ed

Hi guys,

Thanks for going on this journey with us. Here is the latest.

We are moving forward with the material and the current configuration of the mold.

We found that in the original bumper that the push pins are a challenge. We also found out that you have been having a challenge with the factory push pins since the Porsche product change a couple years ago. So, we have also found a great replacement push pin. We have done trials and they fit great and have a pull out strength of about 75 lbs.

We plan on including a set of these push pins with every pre-purchase order of the bumper. After that, they will also be available in the store for a reasonable cost.

Back to the spoiler. The manufacturer is expecting to have the material in house next Wednesday and will fit us in as soon as possible. We are hoping for later next week or early the week after. We will ship out immediately after getting product in.

Thanks

Ed
