Default cup car tie down using transportation hooks

I am in the process of re-finishing my new to me cup car wheels.

When transporting in my trailer the mac tie down strap hook is rubbing against the wheel as shown on this pictures. Now I didnt fully mount the transportation hooks for the picture but you get the idea,

The trailer tie down hooks are narrower than the wheels or body so that is why the hooks and potentially the straps rub the wheel and maybe the body work.

I want to avoid this and looking for ideas:

Thoughts:
1. move the trailer tie down hooks out farther, equal to or wider than the wheels (last result)
2. use the through the wheel straps from mac tie downs but I only have 2 inches between the trailer fenderwell and the outside of the wheel so it is a tight fit to fish the strap throu the wheel and it is always a nightmare to do on a hot car after a race weekend.
3. are there rennline tie down hooks available for the cup? The front is so low it would be probably impossible to get the hooks attached. The clubsport was a nightmare to use the rennline hooks on the front because of the room between the trailer fenderwells and the car.
4. use a long strap without the hook and loop it through the transportation hooks and double it back to the trailer tie down so no metal is touching the wheel

Open to suggestions.

Thanks everyone

I was going to suggest #4 as that's probably your best bet seeing as there is no metal on metal contact. Also allows you to tie down without modifying the car or trailer so in my opinion the simplest method.

I use the rennline tie downs they sell for the 991 works great, I just elevate the cup on wood blocks to increase clearance between the floor of the trailer and the bottom of the car. It makes it easier to hook the straps.

Move your mounting points further out. Or, just loop your tie down straps through a couple of spokes of the wheels. This works perfectly fine, and no, it doesn't affect my alignment at all.

I added additional tie-downs spots in locations that work best for my cup. I use the transport rings and run short straps with metal D-rings on either end through the transport rings to avoid damage to the wheels. The car is too low to mess with running the straps through the wheels - this is much faster and cleaner for me.

I agree with Bob - move/add floor rings for a better alignment. I have “ extra” rings in both of my trailers to avoid this issue.

We use flat hook straps for additional clearance.

Any idea where to source the transport rings for the 6 cup?

Had same issue as you describe. Fenders also get rubbed by the straps. What a PITA. Now I don’t even use the transport rings. I use the Macs Factory Transit Hook Tie-Down Pack and use the T hook version. If you look under your cup, there are factory holes made for transport near where you’d expect the jack point to be. I used to have minor toe in adjustments to be made after transport, now I do not.
