Default Fuel injector cleaning?

I have been in the process of returning my 996 cup to the track after a 9 year hiatus. I figured the car sitting so long would not have been kind to the fuel system. I have a new fuel filter ready to install and wondered if it would be worth also adding a fuel injector cleaner to the fuel? I assume the injectors in these cars need servicing from time to time, however it’s not a topic I’ve ever come across in here.

Is is there any merit to the use of a fuel injectior cleaning additive? If so, should this be done before or after changing the fuel filter?

Thanks

Car sitting that long I would pull the injectors and have them serviced directly. There is always at least one that's not spraying correctly. I do it every 2 years and I use my car

As for cleaner I use Techron in all my street cars cant see how it could hurt on the cup however I would do it after you have the injectors serviced.

Best place to have the injectors cleaned and serviced? Is this a do-it-yourself project, or is reaching the injectors on my 997.1 RS a complete PITA?

What’s involved in pulling them? I like to DIY any simple tasks where I can. I have a track day on 2/17 so will go ahead and swap fuel filter for now but will look to get this done soon after.

Thanks guys, I’m in Aus so will have to find a shop local to me, of which I know there are a few. Those who have done it, any noticeable performance gain or just something you do as part of the maintenance schedule?

I use: https://www.injector.com/cart/pc/home.asp

Fast service, and reasonably priced.

Not hard to pull just a pain in the butt to get to . You have to send them out not a DIY
They have the proper machines to clean and they can test flow patterns

Absolutely. Sounds like I’ll have to be prepared for blood hand.
